Wet Room
Access and ease of use of the bathroom are really important to a person with special needs. Wheelchair users, in particular, may find the use of a wet room on one flat level without any steps most beneficial. The latest developments in ‘wet rooms’ where the whole of the bathroom is “tanked” so that any spilled water is contained within the room are a real boon
A wet room is therefore a fully water tight bathroom where floor and walls are sealed . The entire floor slopes towards the drain which is fitted directly into the floor. The shower unit and controls may be fitted to one of the walls within the wet room.
Wet rooms are growing in popularity in the UK and are now having a major impact on bathroom layout and design particularly for people with special needs.
